Just A Lion In The Cooler!

A friend of mine sent me these pics of a mountain lion they had on there place in South Texas this last Thanksgiving. He wasn't the one who shot it, but said the guy was in his old stand when he did. I don't know if I'll ever have a shot at one of these here in Wise County, but I can keep my hopes up...

It's Legal to Kill Bigfoot in Texas!

I came across this article on twitter and thought it was kind of strange, but informative...you never know!

“If Bigfoot did exist, and wasn’t human, then it would [be legal]. Bigfoot would be a non-protected wild animal,” L. David Sinclair with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department tells StateImpact Texas.

So, yes, it would be legal to kill Bigfoot in Texas. “It’s right out of the law book,” Sinclair says.

EDIT:  I don't really care what the law would be on this... if there was a 6 - 7 ft. wooly brown looking bohemoth in the woods before dark and I was in my stand having to walk back to the truck at dark... I would smoke it before I had to find it alone in the dark! Bears wouldn't be the only ones Sh*****g in the woods...

No Soliciting...Anymore!

Do the guys that sell steaks and meat ever just come up knocking on your door?  I have bought from them a time or two just cause I thought they were decent priced, but I really didn't like the quality of the meat.  The thing is, they remember you and keep knocking on my door no matter how many times I tell them no... I think this guy finally got tired of it!

Always Carry a Pistol...Always!

North Texas Hunter's Trading Post on Facebook

I've had this on my facebook a while but kind of forgot about it.  It's a Facebook page for North Texas that is kind of used as a classifieds section.  You have to ask to be apart of the group, but it is definetly worth it if you're looking to sell or buy any guns or hunting equipment.

Coyote Bluff!

For all the turkey hunters out there...

Coyote lunges for turkey on opening day, bites a hunter instead

MACHIAS, Maine — Opening day of turkey season turned out to be a bit more than Bill Robinson had in mind Monday when he set out his decoy at dawn’s first light.

“I’ll never forget looking up and seeing a jaw full of teeth coming at me,” Robinson said Tuesday, the day after being attacked and bitten on the right arm by a coyote. The wild canine sprang while the Maine Guide was hunkered down in the brush, using a mouth-call to lure a turkey into the open while hunting on private property near the Washington County community of Cooper.

Can't go wrong with 20 year old coveralls... It still works!

Banded.com

Today is the grand opening for a new brand of waterfowl hunting clothing/gear and accessories. Some of there stuff looks pretty awesome. I'm going to have to try out some of there gear before I can really tell how good it is, but the look they have is great!  They also have come out with a two man layout blind that I have never seen before. I think I'll go ahead and get one of there hats for now...

Cheating Wife Advice Needed!

From the "Advice Section" of the newspaper.

As true friends, I need your opinion/help. Really need your advice for a serious problem. I have suspected for some time now that the little woman has been cheating. The usual signs; phone rings, if I answer the caller hangs up, going out with the girls a lot. I try to Stay awake to look out for her when she comes home but I usually fall asleep. Anyway last night about midnight, I hid in the shed behind the boat, when she came home she got out of someones car buttoning her blouse, then she took her panties out of her purse and slipped them on, It was at that moment while crouched behind the boat I noticed a hairline crack In the outboard mounting bracket, Is that something I can weld or do I need to replace it?

GOTTA LOVE HARDCORE FISHERMAN!

What's Your Turkey's Age?

Saw an article on twitter that helps determine the age of a turkey.
Just in case you ever wondered how old it was...

Spur Length = Age of Turkey
1/2 inch or less = 1 year (jake)
1/2-7/8 inch and blunt = 2 years
7/8-1 inch = 2+ years
1+ inch and sharp = 3+ years
1 ¼ + = 4 years

Beard Length = Age of Turkey
3-5 inches = 1 year
6-9 inches with amber tip = 2 years
10+ inches = 3+ years

EDIT: Someone really likes to comment... this one caught my attention!  I'm expecting a phone call from him any day now! I have no idea who Anonymous is though...

If the gamewarden is reading this... just know that I have poached 4 longbeards in the past two weeks. Also, I've shot two cows at random. Just FYI :)

TAGGING GUN OWNERS VEHICLES PSA WARNING

Gun lovers public service announcement:
While I was in a Texas gun store today, my car was tagged on the wheel in the parking lot. The gangs do this on wheels or bumpers at gun stores, shooting ranges, gun shows etc. Later when you are parked at a restaurant, hotel, or other location that’s less well guarded or under video surveillance, other gang members spot the marker and break into the car for a quick gun grab. This is so RAMPANT in San Antonio where we were for a National shoot this summer, the Sheriff of Bexar County came out to brief the 400 participants of our competition. Too bad three teams had already been victimized the first day. This is the first I’ve heard of this in Texas. Please pass this info along to your 2nd amendment list. Daily check your car, truck or motor home for unusual painted dots, marks, check marks or other strange looking symbols that are not normal to your type vehicle. It could prevent you from being a victim of robbery, or even save your life if you catch the thief in the act.
This next comment from a Gun Site instructor:
I don’t know how widespread this is becoming, but the info regarding the NSCA Nationals in San Antonio is correct, as all of us who compete in sporting clays know. Competitors there were having their vehicles marked with a small adhesive dot on the rear license plate or rear bumper, then followed for miles and having their vehicles quickly and efficiently broken in to when parked for lunch etc.
Some crews were working the parking lot at the Nationals itself. 27 high end shotguns were taken there recently. They know when 1400 shooters with high $$ competition guns are in town.
BTW I shot with a young man who was trying out a new gun at the Nationals. He and his father lost all their guns and equipment while making a quick stop for lunch at a BBQ place in Corpus Christi the month before.

Got Geese?

Another friend just sent me some of these pics from earlier in the year... he guides hunts and I will probably post some info on him once waterfowl season gets a little closer.  You can guarantee that I will be going on one of his hunts, if not one, probably 4 or 5!

He said this was only a portion you could see with the camera!
