HUNTING HERITAGE BANQUET – The Cross Timbers Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation holds its annual Hunting Heritage Banquet at the Decatur Civic Center Friday. Doors will open at 6 p.m., with dinner at 7:30, and a live auction to follow. There will be guns, outdoor gear and outdoor-themed home decor for raffle and auction. Youth in attendance can sign up to win a free guided turkey hunt on March 25. Tickets can be purchased at 2K Pawn & Gun, U.S. Forest Service office, or by calling (940) 393-8908. All proceeds benefit the foundation, a non-profit organization whose mission is the conservation of the wild turkey.

To make a long story short: Wife (Michelle Stone) wants to hunt so they take her to a different stand, and while they sit in there honey hole waiting for the hogs...BOOM! His wife kills one on her first hunt! Jamie, you may want to rethink when your wife asks if she can be in the Hog Contest, or be a sweet husband and ask her to be in it with you or you can stay at home and watch the kids, cause I'm asking her next year!

About 150 lbs.

And it weighs more than Jamie and Jasons!

If you'll look closely at this deer he has a dark lower half body. I don't know if it's mange or just dark from bad genetics. Any idea? Let me know!

Not in your contest, but thought you might be interested. Killed near Graham this weekend. Took it to the feed store and weighed it. It weighed 380 next morning 66" long and 17" wide. That was the story I got.

Duck season ended yesterday! I'm a little nervous! But that's ok!
At least th Wise County Hog Hunt has started today, so I might as well start getting the 25-06 in shape.
I still don't believe duck season is over...
I'll get you guys some pics of the hogs from the contest as soon as they start coming in, that should let some of ya'll know what you're up against.
There is going to be a varmint hunt in Weatherford coming up in February...I'll post the flyer in a bit!

So I'm in Amarillo goose hunting and I've seen a lot flying over, but today was supposed to be the big hunting day where we had a guide and all the goose decoys we could ask for, simple enough right? What sucks is when your guide stands you up while you at the location with no decoys and 100s of geese are overhead with nothing to attract them... Tomorrow will be a different story! We know the layout and we have the decoys, who needs a stinkin' guide!?!

How dangerous is hitting a deer?

They were traveling north of Sterling, MI.48659 , on M-76 between Alger and Standish.

Oncoming car clipped a deer and sent it straight up into the air.

The deer came down head-first into Clayton's brand new truck on M-76. The deer's head went thru the front windshield, cutting the head (plus some) off, and landed in Jill's lap. The body of the deer flipped up, smashed in the top of the truck, and landed in the bed. Clayton couldn't see Jill from his side, because the top of the truck was smashed in so horribly.

He got out of the truck, went around, and opened the door on her side...only to start flipping out, because she was literally drenched in blood. However, neither one of them was hurt. Her parents were following in a separate vehicle and didn't see it happen..but drove up on it right afterward. I can't imagine what they were thinking!

Mallards...Duck Commander Style!

I made a new friend the other day who has probably one of the best duck hunting tanks I've ever seen. I was fortunate enough to go with him on an early morning hunt and saw what seemed like 1000 ducks, but what made it really unique was his blind...it was a something you would see on Duck Commander on the hunting channel, which is something you normally don't see in Wise County.

It was nice being able to sit down, play on your phone, eat, drink, and fellowship with one another (as they say on Duck Commander)! If it wasn't for the blind I wouldn't have gotten to know everyone as well as I would have if we were in a layout blind, spread out, or natural cover, plus, the hunt was awesome!

Again, one of the best hunts I've ever been on...I give it a 10!

Saving the African Antelope

I doubt that most of you know this, but I joined an animal rescue group last year. I was assigned to protect the African Antelope.
Well, last month was my first real action, and fortunately my efforts were captured on the attached video. I hope you enjoy it.
This type of work is rather tiring for a person of my age, but it is most rewarding.
Even so, I hope I don't have to do this more than once a day…

For those of you who do a little duck calling, this has got to be the best duck call I've come across! My smokin' hot wife got this for me for Christmas... I can hit the highs and lows with this thing and it is the easiest call I've found to do the feeding call. It is also a competition call...

Falcon Vs. Snake

This has to be the weirdest thing that ever floated by me in the river.

They were stuck together in death lock, each wanting to kill the other first.

My guess is that the falcon snatched up the tasty snake, and it somehow got its tail around the falcons neck, strangling it in midair causing both of them to crash into the comal river. They are both alive and well, considering.

I think a few more minutes and the snake would have won. The tail was actually tied in a knot around the neck, and getting tighter by the second. I got the snake untied, and well, as you can see, they both made it.

This is another one of those stories you tell, and are always acknowledged with "yeah, right!" Well, heres the proof.

Neither of them bit me or scratched me, the snake didnt want to stop biting the falcons leg, and only let go after I had untied everything else.

I got the water out of the falcons lungs with birdie inversion technique, and stayed with him until he was almost dried off in the sun, and flying a little. Ball of snake and falcon, that is the weirdest thing I have pulled out of the water so far, it beats the wagon wheel!

Here is the newest part of my family... I don't know what we are going to name him yet, but he's looking good either way! We will pick him up on January 25, keep him till about August, then it is off to Anderson Ranch off FM 1810 for some Water Dog Training.

"We finished up duck hunting and went to IHOP here in Decatur to get some breakfast, still in our camo! While we're eating a lady comes up to my brothers son and puts her arm around him and say "Did ya'll kill any ducks?". We just told her it was a pretty good hunt and the kids had a blast, then she responded saying, "Y'all need to come to my place in Krum and hunt...". We asked what she had to hunt, and she said "Geese"! She said there were about 15 in her field right now but about 100 to 150 come in every morning and she can't stand it. So, the next morning we went and killed 5... Should have killed more, but we wanted the kids to cut some!"
